How to Defeat the Breeze in Minecraft (2024)

Note: Breeze is still an experimental feature from the Minecraft 1.21 update. So, all its mechanics, attacks, and animations are subject to change.

What is a Breeze in Minecraft

Breeze is a powerful hostile mob making it into the game with Minecraft 1.21 update. It looks similar to a Blaze but uses wind-based attacks instead of fireballs. Furthermore, the Breeze also has the special ability to interact with Redstone triggers including buttons, levers, and more.

This diverse array of attacks and abilities makes Breeze a really unique enemy in the game. Luckily, if you prepare right, defeating the Breeze in Minecraft is going to be, well, a breeze. But, before that, let's discover where to find this hostile mob.

Where Do Breeze Spawn

Breezes only spawn inside the new Trial Chambers in Minecraft. These are massive underground structures that generate in the overworld dimension. You can find these relatively common structures inside the deepslate layers which spawn below the height of Y=0.

Moreover, as per Minecraft ore distribution, this is the same spot where most diamonds spawn. So, even if you fail to defeat a Breeze in Minecraft, the diamonds will be there to console you.

Attacks of Breeze

Breeze, as a hostile mob, has a variety of attacks and tactics. Let's explore all of them:

  • Wind Charge
  • Leap
  • Resistance

Wind Charge

  • Weakness: Can be deflected by other projectiles (like arrows), just like Ghast fireballs

With Wind Charge, the Breeze sends a projectile of wind toward its enemies. If this charge directly hits the target, a burst of wind appears and they receive damage of up to 1.5 points. Yet, even when the attack misses, its wind deals strong knockback to nearby opponents.

But, what makes Wind Charge dangerous is its ability to interact with the Redstone component. It can change the state of the following blocks:

  • Wooden and copper trapdoors
  • Fence gates
  • Buttons
  • Levers
  • Bells

Since the Trial Chambers are filled with traps, Breeze can easily activate them to trap and even harm you.

Leap

  • Weakness: If the Breeze is in lava, it can only jump one block high

Thanks to the Wind Charge, it is extremely hard to get close to the Breeze. But, even when you do, it can leap around to quickly get away. Putting frogs to shame, this jump can cover areas over 10 blocks.

Resistance

  • Weakness: Breeze cannot deflect some projectiles including splash potions

At this point, it's clear that you have to try extra hard to land any melee attacks on the Breeze. But, things don't look good even for the projectiles. The Breeze is immune to arrows and thrown tridents as it sends them flying in random directions. Furthermore, it can also slow down its fall to easily avoid fall damage in Minecraft.

Prepare to Fight Breeze

Now that you are familiar with your enemy, it's time to prepare to defeat the Breeze in Minecraft. Here's everything you will need:

  • Water Bucket: Since Breeze's attacks might toss you around, you need to get the most reliable way to avoid fall damage. But, as an alternate, you can also use the Potion of Slow Falling.
  • Diamond Sword: It's quite hard to get anywhere close to the Breeze. So, you must make the most out of the chance you get with a diamond or Netherite sword.
  • Splash Potions: While the Breeze can deflect most projectiles, potion bottles aren't one of them. So, you can use a splash Potion of Weakness to easily take them down.
  • Lava: If you don't mind a little chaos, you can also bring a lava bucket to the arena. It not only deals a lot of damage to the Breeze but also prevents its movement.
  • Wolf: Breezes don't target tamed wolves until they are attacked by them. So, you can use your canine friends to deal damage to this mob while it is distracted by you. Plus, thanks to the Wolf Armor, your wolf can easily survive the wind charges.

How to Defeat the Breeze in Minecraft

Spawn and Find Breeze

With your equipment ready, follow these simple steps to spawn a breeze in Minecraft:

1. First, use a pickaxe to reach below level Y=0 and search for Trail Chamber. Alternatively, you can use the best Minecraft Trial Chamber seeds to skip the search.

2. Then, explore the chamber and search for a Trial Spawner surrounded by tuff blocks. On the way, you might also find spawners for other hostile mobs. It's best to avoid them for now.

3. Once you find the right Trial Spawner, get close to it to make the Breeze spawn. You can also use this moment to unload some lava near its spawn point.

Fight Breeze in Minecraft

With the enemy in front of you, it's time to defeat the Breeze in Minecraft. But, since all Trial Chambers are different from one another, the room you are in can make a big difference. So, first, take note of your surroundings and avoid standing close to any traps.

Next, search for an open area where you can easily dodge Breeze's wind attacks. While doing so, keep trying to cause some damage to the Breeze either by potions or melee attacks. If you somehow manage to get close to the Breeze, repeatedly hit it with your sword until it dies. Repeat the same process multiple times until you defeat this mob.

Can the Breeze Spawn Again

Once you defeat a Breeze, its Trial Spawner enters a cooldown period of 30 minutes. You can use this time to escape the chamber or prepare for another round of battle. After the cooldown period is over, you just need to approach the spawner to make another Breeze spawn. Alternatively, you can even invite your friends on Minecraft SMP servers to make multiple Breeze mobs to spawn at once.

What Do Breeze Drop

When you defeat a Breeze in Minecraft it only 5 experience orbs and no loot. But, that doesn't mean you don't get rewards for your efforts. Instead of the mob, it's the Trial Spawner that drops a bunch of items. The list includes emeralds, diamonds, a Trial Key, and much more.

Find and Defeat Breezes in Minecraft

Now that you have polished your skills and taken down, it’s time to push the stakes higher. Your next biggest challenge is defeating the Warden in Minecraft. It is one of the most powerful mobs in the game that only spawns in Ancient Cities. Just like the Breeze, you don’t get any rewards for defeating it. But, hunting the Warden makes it easier to collect the rare Silence armor trim in Minecraft. So, do you have what it takes to hunt the monster? Let’s find out!
