How to Find Trial Chambers in Minecraft (2023)

Trial Chambers are only a part of the Minecraft Snapshot 23W45A and they are subject to change in the final release.

What are Trial Chambers in Minecraft

The Trial Chambers is an upcoming hostile structure in the Minecraft 1.21 update. They are composed of new Tuff blocks and an expanded family of copper blocks. This unique collection of building blocks makes them one of the most refreshing places to explore within the game.

But, what sets them apart is not only the layout but also what spawns inside the chambers. Every Trial Chamber consists of various rooms, some with amazing loot while others with hostile mobs. If you enter a monster room, you have to deal with waves of hostile mobs including Breeze, husks, strays, and slimes.

How to Enable Trial Chambers in Minecraft

Currently, the Trial Chambers are only available as an experiential feature for Minecraft. So, you need to install the test versions of the game to enable and play it. Let's figure out how!

Enables 1.21 Features in Minecraft Bedrock Preview

Unlocking the content for the 1.21 update within Bedrock is much easier. All you need to do is download the latest version of Minecraft Preview for your device. It is a standalone version of Minecraft Bedrock that supports all the upcoming features. You can find it on the following platforms:

After downloading the Minecraft Preview/Beta, follow these steps to get Trial Chambers in Minecraft:

1. First, click on the "Play Preview" button on the game's homepage.

2. Then, click on the "Create New" option on the world selection page. Since Preview is a standalone app, it doesn't support your existing Bedrock worlds.

3. Next, go to the Experiments column of the world creation settings and toggle the "Update 1.21" option.

4. Finally, click on the "Create" button to enter the world and start your search for Trial Chambers in Minecraft.

Where Do Trial Chambers Spawn

The Trial Chambers are procedurally generated underground structures. They are supposedly common and easier to find than other cave formations like Ancient Cities. As per the official reveal, the Trial Chambers only spawn within the deepslate layers of the overworld. So, you need to search for them below the world height Y=0.

Tips to Find Trial Chamber in Minecraft

Now that you know the basics of this unique structure, here are some easy tips to find it:

  • Trial Chambers are often surrounded by tuff, deepslate, and diorite blocks. So, you need to keep an eye out for them while exploring underground areas.
  • Since the chambers are buried underground, it's best to keep a diamond pickaxe handy to easily enter and escape them. It's quite easy to get early on if you use the best Minecraft seeds to find diamonds.
  • If you are having a hard time clearing the caves, you can make TNT in Minecraft. It is a quick and easy solution to find hidden structures, but it can also end up damaging the chamber.

Best Biome to Find Trial Chambers in Minecraft

As per an official reveal (here), the Trial Chambers don't rely upon any Minecraft biome for spawning. But, you will still have a better chance of locating them within the following areas:

  • Badlands: The biome with the highest amount of exposed mineshafts. It is perfect for making an easy entrance to the caves and improving your chances of finding Trial Chambers in Minecraft.
  • Savanna: Home to the Armadillos and a bunch of cave openings which are quite easy to navigate. You can use our list of best Minecraft savanna seeds to make the quest even easier.
  • Lush Caves: Among all the cave biomes in Minecraft, lush caves are the ones that intersect with structures most frequently. Plus, they generate growberries which emit light and prevent hostile mobs from spawning.

Trial Chambers Explorer Map

If exploring your world isn’t going as planned, it’s time to add direction to your search. For that, you first need to find a Cartographer villager and upgrade them to Journeyman level by trading. Our guide on how to get emeralds in Minecraft will make the process easier.

Next, trade with the Journeyman Cartographer to get an Explorer map. There is an equal chance of that map pointing towards your nearest Trial Chamber, Woodland Mansion, or Ocean Monument. If it doesn’t provide direction for the chamber, reset villager trades and try again.
