How to Find Silence Armor Trim in Minecraft (2023)

Once you are over this guide, getting an armor trim will be quite easy. But, just one trim isn’t enough for your entire armor set. So, don't overlook our section on duplicating the trim to ensure you have enough of them.

What is a Silence Armor Trim in Minecraft

The Silence armor trim is one of the best-looking armor trims in Minecraft. It engulfs your boots and helmet entirely, leaving only space for your eyebrows and toes. The chestplate gets a Wither-like design with two horizontal lines crossing a rod. Meanwhile, the leggings feature curves that seamlessly connect the chest pattern to the boots.

But, that's not all. it is also quite easy to mix and match this armor trim with all the other options in the game. Explore our list of best Minecraft armor trim combinations to find a few options you can try and even customize.

Where Does Silence Armor Trim Spawn

The Silence Armor Trim only spawns inside the Ancient Cities in Minecraft. It has a tiny 1.2% chance of generating inside the chests of this structure. This is the lowest spawn rate among all the armor trims in the game. But, since you can find dozens of chests inside one city, the odds become much better.

Moreover, contrary to a popular myth, Silence Armor Trim is not the rarest armor trim in the game. That title belongs to Rib armor trim which spawns inside Pillager Outposts. Despite them being more common, these structures only generate a single chest. So, you have to travel further and explore multiple outposts to complete your set.

How to Find Ancient Cities in Minecraft

Unlike most structures in Minecraft, the generation of Ancient Cities isn't unpredictable. Just follow some basic rules during your search and you will find yourself knocking at the Warden's in no time.

Locate Mountains

Ancient Cities most commonly spawn underneath the mountain biomes in the game. So, if you can find a hilly region in your world, head towards it before digging for the city. Moreover, you can use the best Minecraft mountain seeds to make the search even easier.

Dig Deep

Once you find a reliable mountain biome, search for cave openings in the area. They are common around the base of the hills and often lead to the Bedrock layer. But, even if you fail to find a cave opening, that's not an issue that a trusty pickaxe cannot fix.

Start mining and don't look up until you reach the world height of Y=-51. That's the point where all Ancient City structures generate their base. After reaching that level, it's only a matter of minutes before you start seeing the signs of darkness.

Search for Sculk Blocks

All Ancient Cities spawn inside the Deep Dark biome in Minecraft. The entire biome, including its walls, floor, and roof, remains covered with Sculk blocks. So, while exploring the caves, keep an eye out for Sculk blocks, and follow them to find an Ancient City. A great aspect of this biome is that other hostile mobs don't spawn in it, making your search much safer.

Ancient City Finder (Alternate Method)

If you don't mind a little cheating, you can uncover the coordinates of all Silence armor trims in Minecraft within no time. Here's how:

1. First, find the seed of the world you are playing in. It is present in the world settings on the Bedrock edition. Meanwhile, Java players can use the following command to uncover it:

/seed

Using this command doesn't require admin privileges and the game doesn't count it as cheating.

2. Then, go to the Chunk Base's Ancient City Finder (here).

3. There, enter the seed code of your world and select the version of your game from the drop-down menu.

4. Then, scroll down and explore the map of your world. Every black dot represents an Ancient City on that seed. Hover your cursor over any city close to your current location to reveal its coordinates in the bottom right corner.

Where Does the Silence Armor Trim Spawn

As mentioned earlier, the Silence armor trim spawns inside the chests within the Ancient city. But, since each chest only has a 1.2% chance of spawning the trim, you might have to explore a lot of them.

Luckily, we already have a list of all the key locations where the chests usually spawn. You just need to keep an eye out for the following to quickly find the right ones:

  • Small ruins next to the main corridor
  • Hanging structures
  • Chambers with blackstone bricks
  • Shrines with candles
  • Ice boxes with underground areas and ice blocks
  • Wooden towers near the city entrance
  • Camps with wool, wood, and campfire

Prepare to Tackle Ancient City

Since we are only exploring the Ancient City to get silence armor trim in Minecraft, it's best to avoid the Warden altogether. But, preparing for the worst can save your life during unforeseen events. So, here's everything you need:

  • Potion of Healing: Warden deals the highest amount of melee damage in Minecraft. So, it's best to have an option to instantly heal yourself to survive a second hit.
  • Golden Apple: If potion brewing doesn't go as planned, you can also craft a golden apple. It temporarily adds additional hearts to your health bar which are enough to escape the Warden.
  • Armor: Warden's attacks are powerful enough to kill you with a single hit if you aren't wearing armor. So, make sure to gear yourself with Netherite or diamond armor, if possible.
  • Building Blocks: Warden's kit is most dangerous when you're standing close to this mob. Make sure to pack some building blocks to create some distance between you and the Warden.
  • TNT: If building isn't your strongest suit, maybe destruction might come in handy. Simply, make TNT in Minecraft and set it off when the Warden spawns. The explosion isn't enough to kill it, but destroying the terrain can strongly limit the movement of this mob.

How to Open Chests Without Triggering Sculk Sensor

When you open a chest in Minecraft, it sends out vibrations that a Sculk sensor can detect and forward to the Sculk catalyst. If these vibrations activate a catalyst three times, the Warden spawns, and then, it's game over.

Fortunately, there is a way to cancel these vibrations and open all chests in the city without spawning the Warden. Here's how to use it:

1. First, make sure you have at least 20 wool blocks and 5 carpets before entering the Ancient City. You can collect more, but this quantity should be more than enough.

2. Then, explore the ancient city and search for chests. Make sure not to jump, run, or walk recklessly. If you need to climb, use stairs or place a carpet before jumping onto a block.

3. Once you find a chest, stand next to it and surround yourself with wool blocks. Wool can cancel out vibrations and prevent them from reaching the Sculk block. So, by closing yourself in a chamber of wool, you can open chests without triggering the sensor and summoning the Warden.

Crafting Recipe to Duplicate Silence Armor Trim

While a single armor trim isn't enough to cover your entire armor, it's the only thing you need from the Ancient City. So, once you find the Silence armor trim, quickly get back to the safety of your base. Then, combine the trim with seven diamonds and one cobbled deepslate block to duplicate it.

The crafting process consumes your armor trim but gives out two trims as a result. You can learn about the crafting recipes of all armor trims in Minecraft with our dedicated guide. While using this many diamonds might feel expensive, it's much better than dealing with the Warden.

Find and Use Silence Armor Trim in Minecraft

With that, it’s time to strap your armor and get ready to enter the Warden’s home to get Silence armor trim in Minecraft. But, even with all our tips, the risk isn’t completely over. The best solution is to grab your friends from the best Minecraft SMP servers to prepare for the worst. While they are over, you can also get your crew to try the new Trial Chambers in Minecraft. However, keep in mind that, unlike Ancient City, the new structures increase challenges with a number of players. Best of luck!
