The Minecraft Bedrock 1.20.30 update is here and it is carrying a massive changelog. From new ways to find diamonds in Minecraft to support for shaders, there is a lot to uncover. Some of these changes can even change how you trade on the best Minecraft servers. So, get your trusty pickaxe and dive right in!

Minecraft Bedrock 1.20.30 Update

Our guide covers all the major details for the new Bedrock update. You can explore the official changelog of Minecraft 1.20.30 to find all the bug fixes and smaller changes.

Support for Shaders in Minecraft Bedrock 1.20.30

After years of anticipation, Minecraft Bedrock now supports shaders once again. Similar to the best Minecraft Java shaders, Bedrock shaders can enhance your world's lighting. Moreover, since the Bedrock edition also supports RTX, you can push it way beyond MC Java.

Other than the shaders, the update is also bringing a bunch of other graphical settings to the game. The list includes virtual sync (v sync), rendering of different aspects, and a lot more. Camera Command

This update introduces a new command in the game that allows you to change the position of your camera. With the camera command, you can adjust your perspective and unlock unique angles. It is particularly useful for content creators, and Minecraft custom map makers.

New "You Died" Screen

Following in the footsteps of the new UI in the last update, Minecraft 1.20.30 overhauls the death screen. The new version of the screen includes vibrant buttons and a reddish vignette. Furthermore, it also zooms out to provide a broader view. Thanks to that, you get a chance to look at the dropped items and see what killed you.

Dig Deeper to Find Diamonds

With the Minecraft Bedrock 1.20.30 update, diamond ore blocks now generate more in the deepslate layers. Thanks to this change and the general Minecraft 1.20 ore distribution, you will have better chances to get diamonds in the deepest layers of the overworld.

Other Changes in Minecraft Bedrock 1.20.30

Here are all the other changes and fixes you need to know about in Minecraft 1.20.30:

  • You can no longer find suspicious stew inside the creative inventory.
  • A switch to the "New UI" button appears in your world menu. Clicking on it changes the layout of the entire world screen.
  • You can use golden apple/carrot or enchanted apple to tempt horses, mules, and donkeys. Meanwhile, llamas can be tempted by hay bales.
  • Falling blocks break when they fall on top of boats or cocoa beans.
  • New menu HUD icons for touch devices
  • You can no longer cure the same zombie villager multiple times to cycle discounted rates.
  • The sculk sensors can now detect over 20 new vibrations including name tags, bone meal, and more.

Java and Bedrock Parity Changes

Here are the major changes in 1.20.30 that bring the two editions of Minecraft closer to each other:

  • The update matches the breaking time of 188 new blocks on both editions. Unfortunately, the time it takes to mine obsidian is still different.
  • Pillager outposts can now spawn inside the Cherry Grove biome.
  • You can control the formation of snow and ice using the random tick speed.
  • Mobs turning into their variants (for example, husks into zombies) make accurate sounds.
  • Wandering traders now sell cherry saplings.
  • Witches can help raiders by throwing Potion of Healing and Potion of Regeneration on them.

Recipe Book and Unlocking Message

Whenever you find a new item in Minecraft, the game will show a notification indicating that recipes around that item are now unlocked. Then, you can open the recipe book through a crafting table to find these recipes.

This feature has been a part of the Java edition for a long time and now, Bedrock players can enjoy it too. But, this pop-up can also be a bit distracting to veteran players. So, the game gives you the option to turn off "Recipe Unlocked" notifications while creating a new world.

Furthermore, the update includes a rework of the recipe book's search system. It aims to provide more accurate search results that match your query with the main part of the keyword. For example, when you search for 'tor", the game will display torch and redstone torch instead of Daylight Detector.

How to Crawl in Minecraft Bedrock

While it may seem like a basic addition, Bedrock players now have the ability to crawl in Minecraft for the first time in years. To crawl, simply place a trapdoor next to your character's face and open it. Due to the limited space, the game will automatically put you into swimming or crawling mode. This mechanic allows you to create one-block-tall entrances and access tight spaces without mining.

Villager Trade Rebalance

Minecraft Bedrock 1.20.30 is currently testing a new trading system that has the potential to enhance the game. You can enable it through the experiments section and get new trades from the following mobs:

  • Librarian: The new trading system eliminates the randomness of enchanted books from villagers. Instead, Librarians now offer enchantments based on their biome. So, you need to find all types of villages in Minecraft to get all possible enchanted books.
  • Wandering Trader: The trades now sell a bunch of useful items including logs, an enchanted pickaxe, and a Potion of Invisibility. Plus, they can now buy items from players, making them a reliable source of emeralds on the go.
