What is a Mace in Minecraft

Introduced in Minecraft 1.21 update, Mace is the latest weapon in the game. It looks similar to a hammer and under the right circumstances, is the strongest melee weapon in Minecraft. But its strength isn't the only thing that makes it different from other weapons.

Mace doesn't rely on the existing Minecraft ores which means that doesn't have any types. Moreover, it doesn't even support any enchantments. So, the main variant of the Mace is the only weapon you get with no possibility of an upgrade.

Where Does Mace Spawn

Currently, Maces don't spawn in any chests or other storage blocks in the game. Moreover, they are not even a part of trades for any villager jobs in Minecraft. While this prevents players from farming this powerful weapon, it also makes it quite hard to get.

Items Required to Make a Mace

You need to collect these rare items to craft a Mace in Minecraft:

• Breeze Rod
• Heavy Core
• Crafting Table or Crafter

Unlike all the other weapons, the crafting recipe of Mace only requires two ingredients. You can even craft it within your player inventory grid without using the crafting table. But, that's only if you can get your hands on its rare ingredients.

Get Breeze Rod

All the weapons in Minecraft have a wooden handle, from axes to swords, but that isn't the case with Maces. Instead, you must get a Breeze rod to craft it. Here's how:

1. First, find a Trial Chamber in Minecraft. This structure generates in all overworld biomes below the world height Y=0.

2. Go through the room and look for a Breeze Trial spawner. When you get close to it, a Breeze will spawn and start attacking you.

3. While carefully dodging the wind charges, defeat the Breeze. It drops 1-2 breeze rods upon dying.

Collect Heavy Core

Heavy Core is a mysterious block in Minecraft that acts as the dense part of the Mace. You can collect it by opening a vault using a Trial Key, both of which spawn in the Trial Chamber. But, unfortunately, each vault only has a small 2.1% chance of dropping this rare block.

So, you might have to explore a bunch of chambers and open multiple vaults before getting a core. This makes Mace one of the hardest weapons to get in the Minecraft 1.21 update.

Crafting Recipe of Mace in Minecraft

After collecting the two ingredients, it's really easy to make a Mace in Minecraft. All you need to do is place the Heavy Core in the crafting grid with the Breeze Rod right beneath it. This recipe only requires two cells so you can use it in any row of the crafting grid. Just make sure that the core is right above the rod.

How to Repair a Mace in Minecraft

At this point, you know that Mace is not an easy weapon to craft which makes it quite hard to replace. But what about repairing a damaged Mace before it breaks? Well, things are complicated, to say the least.

Similar to a trident, you can only repair a Mace by combining it with another damaged Mace. Doing so combines the durability of the two damaged weapons into a single item. But, instead of restoring durability, this method only makes them easier to store.

• Crafting Grid or Anvil: The quickest way to combine the durability of two Maces is by placing them next to one another in the crafting grid or an anvil. Irrespective of the block you use for this recipe, the final result would be the same.
• Grindstone: When you combine two damaged Maces on a Grindstone, it gives a 5% bonus durability to the resulting Mace. This is the only reliable way to restore this item's durability rather than just combining it.
