Minecraft's crafting system is going through the biggest transformation since the game's release. A new block, Crafter, allows you to automatically craft any recipe within Minecraft. This unlocks a ton of new possibilities for regular players as well as Redstone builders. You can plan weapon dispensers, unlimited smelting, and much more. But, all of that's only possible if you know how to get and use the Crafter in Minecraft. So, let's get started!
Crafter in Minecraft (2023)
Note: Our guide covers planned mechanics and blocks for the Minecraft 1.21 update. All features, names, and designs are subject to change in the final release.
What is a Crafter in Minecraft
The Crafter is a revolutionary utility block in Minecraft that combines the features of a crafting table and a dispenser. It allows you to use any crafting recipe in the game by fixing items in certain slots. Then, you can activate the block and collect the final result whenever you need it.
This block brings the highly anticipated auto-crafting mechanic to Minecraft. With it, you can level up farms and even mass-produce items automatically.
How Does a Crafter Work
The Crafter has pretty much the same UI as the Crafting Table in Minecraft. You can place ingredients as per a crafting recipe to create any craftable item or block. But the difference lies in how you get the results. Instead of picking the final item from the Crafter block. You need to exit its UI right after placing the ingredients in it.
Then, you can use a lever or a button to send a Redstone signal to the Crafter and make it drop the final item. If you store multiple sets of ingredients inside the Crafter, pressing the button allows you to obtain an item whenever you need it. This eliminates the need for a crafting recipe to make items like bread, that you need on a regular basis.
Toggleable Slots in Crafter
As revealed during Minecraft Live, the Crafter in Minecraft also allows you to enable or disable certain slots in the crafting grid. This allows Hoppers to systematically place items inside the Crafter and create automatic item farms.
A great example of this is creating a skeleton farm right next to your farming area. The bones from the skeleton farm can go inside the Crafter via a hopper. If you leave all but one slot open, the Crafter will turn bone into bonemeal. Then, on the other end, a farmer villager can collect and use the bonemeal on your Minecraft crops.
Crafting Recipe of a Crafter
Currently, there is no official crafting recipe to make a crafter in Minecraft. But, its design suggests that its ingredients might include planks, iron ingots, and Redstone. Make sure to bookmark our guide to be among the first to stay up to date about the same.
Is Auto Crafting Going to Change Minecraft
Crafter, on itself, only automates the process of crafting certain items in the game. But, with a tweaker, you can use it to completely change how you play the game. Here are some of the common ideas on how to use a Crafter in Minecraft for automation:
- Unlimited Fuel: You can use the Crafter to make kelp blocks to fuel your furnace. All you need is a kelp farm to back it up and unlock unlimited smelting.
- Compact Storage: Minecraft allows you to turn various ingots and items into complete blocks. You can use Crafter to automate this process and create better storage for all your existing farms.
- Faster Bartering: A major problem with Piglins trades in Minecraft is that they only accept gold ingots. That's why you need to make a bunch of ingots every time you want to trade with them. Thanks to the Crafter, you can funnel gold nuggets into ingots and continually drop them in front of Piglins.
- Better Food: Traditional food farms in Minecraft typically produce basic food items that restore minimal hunger. But now, you can get upgraded food items right out of your chest. Whether you want cake, golden carrots, or pumpkin pies, a crafter can help you get better food in no time.
Use Crafter to Automate Crafting in Minecraft 1.21
Just like that, you are now ready to craft and use the Crafter in Minecraft 1.21. This block is sure to revolutionize the farming system on Minecraft 1.21 servers.
