If you're a seasoned Minecraft player, you know that mobs come in all shapes and sizes. But have you ever heard of Sniffer? This curious creature has a distinct size, a fresh style of spawning, and a truly game-changing way of interacting with the world. But the uniqueness doesn't end there. Sniffer is one of the very Minecraft mobs that lays eggs and the process is unlike anything you've seen before. So, to avoid any confusion and get you ready for the world of Minecraft 1.20, let's dive in and learn how to breed Sniffer in Minecraft right now!

How to Breed Sniffer in Minecraft

Note: Our guide goes over the experimental mechanics of Sniffer from the upcoming Trails & Tales update. All the mechanics, features, and textures are bound to change before the release date of the Minecraft 1.20 update.

What Does the Sniffer Eat

Just like any other Minecraft mob, Sniffer relies on food for breeding and healing itself. But you don't have to hunt for its food as this mob is quite self-sufficient. At the moment, the Sniffer only eats the TorchFlower seeds that it sniffs out of the ground. Though, we expect the list of its food items to increase over time. So, make sure to follow our dedicated guide on Sniffer in Minecraft to stay up to date.

With that said, let's learn how to obtain TorchFlower seeds in MInecraft:

  1. First, get a Sniffer in Minecraft and take it around sniffing compatible blocks. These include dirt, grass, podzol, coarse dirt, rooted dirt, mud, muddy mangrove roots, and moss blocks.
  2. Then, just let the Sniffer roam around freely until it digs out two TorchFlower seeds. You don't have to worry about sowing them. This mob usually waits for around 10 minutes before finding another seed.

How to Breed Sniffer in Minecraft

Once you have TorchFlower seeds, follow these steps to easily breed a Sniffer in Minecraft to get Snifflet:

  1. To begin, locate two Sniffers in Minecraft and bring them close to each other. You can use a lead in Minecraft to move each mob around.
  2. Then, simply feed one TorchFlower seed to each Sniffer and let them get into "love mode". Within a second, you will end up with a Sniffer egg in Minecraft.
  3. Next, pick up the Sniffer egg and place it on any solid surface. Alternatively, you can collect a bunch of eggs and use them later on as well.
  4. Finally, just wait for the Sniffer egg to hatch, and you will be greeted with a Snifflet (baby Sniffer). It takes 20 minutes for a Sniffer egg to hatch but placing it on a moss block reduces the time to just 10 minutes.
  5. You can breed the Sniffers again after 10 minutes. Not to forget, the Baby Sniffer will become an adult within 20 minutes and then it can join the cycle as well.
